What is a regional commission ?

Regional commissions are public agencies created and established by the Georgia Planning Act (O.C.G.A. 50-8-32) in order to assist local governments on a regional basis and to develop, promote and assist in establishing coordinated and comprehensive planning in the state.

Our Mission Statement

The mission of the Southwest Georgia Regional Commission is to serve our local governments by providing collaborative, progressive leadership and professional technical services, to determine the needs of the region and improve the livability of communities for citizens of the region.

What Do We Do?

 We are involved in a broad range of activities related to coordinated and comprehensive planning, land-use development, historic preservation,  revolving loan funds, affordable housing, tourism, workforce development, coordinated transportation, geographic information systems, and disaster-mitigation planning.

Where are we located ?

McRee Hall is a Neoclassical Georgia wooden house built in 1906 during Camilla's Broad Street Gilded Age. Built by James Price MecRee, a prominent timber and turpentine dealer, who built the house for his new bride. McRee Hall is one of Camilla, Georgia's grandest homes.
