PUBLIC HEARING
The City of Colquitt is considering applying to the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) for a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) of up to $1,000,000. These funds must be used to primarily benefit low and moderate-income people.
The City is specifically interested in applying for CDBG funds to make Sewer System Improvements in a targeted area in the City. The Southwest Georgia Regional Commission is the Grant Writer and Administrator.
The activities for which these funds may be used are in the areas of housing, public facilities, and economic development. More specific details regarding eligible activities, plans to assist displaced person (if any), the estimated amount of funds proposed to be used for the activities to benefit low- and moderate- income persons and the rating system will be provided at a public hearing will be held at the City of Colquitt’ City Hall, located at 154 West Street Colquitt, GA 39837 on March 13, 2025 at 10:30 AM.
The purpose of this hearing will be to obtain citizen input into the development of the CDBG application and to review progress on the previous CDBG grant (if applicable). The City of Colquitt in Miller County is committed to providing all persons with equal access to its services, programs, activities, education and employment regardless of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status, disability or age. Persons with special needs relating to handicapped accessibility or foreign language shall contact Kesha Lavette, City Clerk, prior to March 13, 2024. This person will be located at City of Colquitt, 154 West Street, Colquitt, Georgia 39837, (229) 758-1000, between the hours of 8:00 AM. to 5 PM, Monday thru Friday, except holidays. The City of Parrott is taking an important step to upgrade our aging water system—and we want your voice to be part of the process.
We are currently considering applying to the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) for a **Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)** of up to $1,000,000. These funds, if awarded, will go directly toward making much-needed **water system improvements** in targeted areas across the city.

The selected firm will perform annual financial and compliance audits in accordance with state and federal standards.
